Dennis Cullinane

Science Teacher, Science Department Chair

Dennis completed his undergraduate degree in biology at the University of Maryland. He continued with his Ph.D. in Anatomy & Biomechanics at Cornell University, and followed with a post-doctoral fellowship in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dennis came to Deerfield in 2005 from the Boston University School of Medicine where he served as an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Biomedical Engineering. His area of research was orthopaedic biomechanics and trauma, and he has continued that work with Deerfield students in his class Orthopaedic Biomechanics. He teaches and serves as Chair in the Science Department, and lives in Harold Smith dormitory. Dennis also coaches girls' Cross Country and Boys' and Girls' Track & Field, and is the faculty sponsor of the Native American Cultural Alliance.
