Asvelt Nduwumwami

Science Teaching Fellow

Returning to Deerfield after graduating in 2009, Asvelt Nduwumwami joined the Science Department as a Teaching Fellow in chemistry in 2013. In the spring of 2013 he completed his BA at Williams College, where he researched inhibitors in DNA repair systems in bacteria implicated in antibiotic resistance, research expected to lead to at least one publication. Asvelt’s professors lauded his ability to hone in on the important questions, and they commented, as well, by saying, “He’s not one to cut corners.” Home for Asvelt, and his two brothers Pacifique and Deo, is in Burundi. At Deerfield Asvelt lives in Chapin, and is an Associate in Dewey and Johnson; he also helps with the yearbook.
