I am excited to be moving from Chicago to Dubai, UAE this Spring! This will be my first expat adventure! The emotional oscillation between exhilaration and abject fear makes me feel like a kid again. After 23 great years in Chicago I’m taking the opportunity to enjoy another growth spurt, learn a new language and culture, and check a box on my bucket list.

If anyone has experience in the middle east region, or can offer any advice on making the transition to life in a totally different culture, I would love to hear from you.

All the best to all, and look for photo updates in the future.

I also spent a month this past summer on a consulting project at Saudi Aramco, in Dahran, Saudi Arabia. On the personal side, really enjoying watching my daughters completing high school, and still actively skydiving and playing ice hockey several times weekly. Life is good!

David Sweet ’81 helped to launch a new newspaper on the North Shore of Chicago in October. Called The North Shore Weekend, the publication features the feel of a magazine, with its focus on profiles and big-picture stories, yet appears on newsprint. “Our mentors are publications such as The Wall Street Journal, The New Yorker and the like. The whole idea seems counterintuitive in the Internet age, but plenty of people still enjoy a leisurely weekend read courtesy of print. I only wish Bryce Lambert were around to see it.”
It has given me a reason to finally learn how to use Facebook as well. Though born in Chicago, Trip is already a member of Red Sox Nation and is learning about all things New England as much as I can teach him.

Sorry, I was unable to make our 40th Reunion. I trust the attendees from our class enjoyed the weekend. I have been on a forced hiatus from the NFL since April of 2009. I have been able to spend quite of bit of time following my 3 daughters academic/ athletic exploits. My oldest daughter, Megan,18, will attend Villanovca University in the fall of 2012 where she will she will major in Communications and play lacrosse. Alexis, 17, is a rising senior at Blue Valley HS in Kansas. She is a setter on the Varsity Volleyball team and is currently narrowing her choices of colleges. She wants to major in elementary education and play volleyball in college. Kelli, 15, is a rising sophomore at Blue Valley. She has followed her sister into volleyball and is a labero on the volleyball team. She has already chosen her career path. She wants to be a pediatrician. Here’s to her following her dream. My wife of 23 years, Betsy, is very active in the Blue Valley HS parents programs. I have been approached to pen a book about my life in the National Football League. I hesitate to commit at this time as I still would like to continue my career in the NFL. Stay tuned.
William Kuharich Class of 1972
