The girls varsity tennis team has yet to experience a losing record in 19 seasons, compiling a total of 198 wins and only 44 losses. The performance of the team at the season’s end tournament includes three 1st places, eight runner-up positions, and three 3rd places. Our success comes from our depth. Most of the players compete in other sports during the year. Our top seniors have gone on to not only play at the collegiate level, but also to earn “Rookie of the Year” status in programs at Colby, Hamilton, Georgetown and Johns Hopkins. Some have earned Captaincies at colleges that include Harvard, Skidmore, St. Lawrence, Hamilton, Middlebury, Trinity and Bowdoin. Honors gained at Trinity College included MVP, All-NESCAC, Academic and Collegiate All-American Scholar.
It has been exciting and encouraging to see the quality of our players improve steadily over the years. In the past the All-American sports tennis camp, and the Nick Bollettieri Tennis camp have periodically used our facility for summer clinics and programs. Deerfield boasts a total of 21 “no fault” medium speed hard courts, 18 of which surround our traditional pagoda on the “lower level.”
Girls tennis at Deerfield is coached by David Dickinson. For more information, please contact Mr. Dickinson at ddickinson@deerfield.edu.
