Deerfield's field hockey program is in its twenty-third season. The tradition we've built is noteworthy. The varsity team has won the Western New England Prep School Field Hockey Association (WNEPSFHA) league championship six times, and has participated in the New England Prep School Tournament in all but four seasons. Last season, the varsity squad finished with a 10-5-1 record and made it to the quarterfinals of playoffs.
At Deerfield we have a field hockey team for everyone. The level of play on the varsity squad challenges elite high school players, while our junior varsity and reserve teams offer players with less experience an opportunity to develop their skills while enjoying the experience of being on a team.
Deerfield head coach Kristen Veiga is in her second season as head coach and her fourth season involved with the varsity program. She believes strongly in developing players who are dedicated to the sport and to one another and emphasizes the importance of working hard, playing fair, and having fun. Recent Deerfield alumnae have played for Amherst College, Boston College, Bowdoin College, Dartmouth College, and Harvard University. Countless other alumnae have gone on to play at the collegiate level throughout the years.
Deerfield field hockey is coached by Kristen Veiga and Katie Calhoun. Feel free to contact either coach for more information.
