Leadership Training Program
Statement of Purpose
Subscribing to the idea that good leadership contributes both to an effective and ethical community, and that leadership is a desirable personal quality refined and strengthened through training and action, Deerfield Academy acknowledges the importance and substantive influence of student leaders on our campus.
As such, leadership positions at Deerfield Academy should be undertaken only with the commitment to serve fully and selflessly. Implicit is the expectation that students not overextend themselves in this respect; Deerfield Academy subscribes to the sentiment that leadership ability is measured in the quality of the service rather than the quantity of roles.
Leadership training, therefore, emerges from an effort to encourage leaders in our community to properly prepare for their responsibilities, to understand the limits of their efforts and influence, and to model desired behavior.
