Deerfield is a community which prides itself on academic excellence, service to others, and the pursuit of a life well-lived.  Many of our students reach unparalleled levels of achievement in specialized fields, yet Deerfield’s tradition insists that these students also gain a broad understanding of the world.

Deerfield’s community is one of collaboration, not competition; students who bring special skills to Deerfield are most successful when they use those skills to contribute to campus life–to reach out to classmates who need a bit of help, to collaborate directly with faculty on original research, to gain a deeper understanding of their studies by investing their attention and interest in others’.
