Reunions are a time for families and we would like to encourage you to bring yours. We’ve made arrangements to help accommodate families and allow you to enjoy time with your classmates as well. Here’s everything you need to know when bringing your children to your reunion. If you have any questions that are not answered here, please contact Margaret Temesvari at mtemesvari@deerfield.edu or 413-774-1461.
The Program Our reunion childcare program is very popular! The children love it and our coordinator, Cynde Bush, puts together a terrific age-appropriate weekend for children, including games, crafts, movies and other fun activities. The program accommodates children ages 3 (who are toilet-trained) to 14 with child-friendly meals and snacks, and careful supervision. The childcare program is located in the tent between Field and McAlister Dorms. In case of inclement weather, the common rooms of those dorms and the gymnasium are available. Children are in small groups and cared for by Deerfield students and other local teens. Details on the childcare activities will be sent to parents a month before reunions and will be available at the registration desk upon arrival. Please advise us of any allergies, medical concerns or other issues at the time of registration.
We do not provide childcare for children under the age of 3. Younger infants and children will need to remain with parents or their own caregivers. Older teens (over 14) are welcome to participate in most programs, activities and meals as registered guests of their parent(s) at the adult rate, but please know that few older teenagers come to reunions.
Hours:
Friday Evening: 4:00 pm – Midnight
Saturday Morning: 8:45 am – Noon
Saturday Afternoon: 1:00 – 4:00 pm
Saturday Evening: 6:00 pm – Midnight
Meals The childcare program provides age-appopriate suppers on both Friday and Saturday evenings. Children will accompany their parents to the Saturday breakfast and picnic luncheon and Sunday brunch. Snacks are provided throughout the day. Please advise us of any food allergies on the registration form.
Sleeping Arrangements Children older than 11 will have their own dorm rooms, if space permits. Because dorm rooms are singles with only one bed per room, it is important to bring sleeping bags/pillows for younger children. Older teenagers registering as adult guests of their parent(s) will have separate dorm rooms. On campus accommodations are provided for Friday and Saturday nights only.
Other Activities The pool will be open if lifeguards are available.
Registration There is no charge for children under 3. Older teens are welcome to register at the adult rate as guests of their parent(s) for the weekend. Children should be registered on the same form as their parent(s).
