A “faculty brat” mini reunion in Easthampton

November 12, 2013

My name is Kate Reade Rosenblatt and my father, Ed Reade, taught at DA for 38 years and couched the Varsity teams in squash and tennis. (He retired in 1984.) Recently, I held a “faculty brat” mini reunion at my home in Easthampton. After zillions of emails, we had a nice turn out! Many of us hadn’t seen each other in over 20 or more years, literally! We had a great afternoon together. While several of us live in the Valley, we had one attend from Virginia and another from New Hampshire–impressive!

Those in this picture are:
Top Row: Steve McKelvey, DA ’77 (Father was Dick, now deceased, taught religion), David Bohrer, DA ’77 (Father was Larry, now deceased, was Head of Science Dept.), Mindy Merriam (Father is Bob Merriam–infamous at DA!), Beth Tyler (father is Bill Tyler, former swim coach and I know he was in the Administration), me–Kate Reade, Lisa Demers (father is Chuck Demers, former DA trainer)
Front Row: Candice Gore (Father Peter-recently deceased, taught French), Susy Merriam (another Merriam!), and Laurie Mackey, (Father was head of Admissions).

I am only using everyone’s “maiden names” for old times’ sake.

There were a few others who were not able to attend. We hope to make this an annual event. Deerfield was a very important part of all our lives and we loved sharing pictures and memories last month. I’m hoping perhaps this picture can make it into a Bulletin at some point!
