Project a MacBook Air (HDMI)

  • Turn on the Hitachi switcher by pressing the StandBy/On button on the top right side of the switcher.
  • Turn on the Projector by pressing Projector on the Hitachi switcher.
  • Plug the HDMI adapter cable on the table into the laptop.
  • Press HDMI 1 on the switcher.
  • Turn on the laptop and the image will shortly appear on the screen.
  • Volume is controlled via the Spkr Up/Down buttons on the switcher as well as the application playing the audio.
  • When you are done:
    • Disconnect the laptop from the HDMI adapter cable.
    • Turn off Projector using the Projector button on the Hitachi switcher.  When the shut down prompt appears on the screen, press Projector once more.
    • Turn off the Hitachi switcher by pressing the StandBy/On button on the top right side.

Note on Video (this only needs to be done once):

To improve the video appearance on the laptop after connecting the HDMI cable, do the following:

  • Click on the AirPlay icon in the top menu
  • Under Match Desktop Size to… select Built-in Display

Note on Audio (this only needs to be done once):

           To play audio through the room speaker, do the following:

  • Click on the Apple menu and select System Preferences
  • Click on Sound (second row, last item)
  • Click on Output and select SwitcherClose the window

Project a Windows Laptop (VGA)

  • Turn on the Hitachi switcher by pressing the StandBy/On button on the top right side of the switcher.
  • Turn on the Projector by pressing Projector on the Hitachi switcher.
  • Plug in the VGA and audio cables on the table into the laptop.
  • Press Computer 1 on the switcher.
  • Turn on the laptop and the image will shortly appear on the screen.
  • Volume is controlled via the Spkr Up/Down buttons on the switcher as well as through the laptop and the application playing the audio.
  • When you are done:
    • Disconnect your laptop from the VGA and audio cables.
    • Turn off Projector using the Projector button on the Hitachi switcher.  When the shut down prompt appears on the screen, press Projector once more.
    • Turn off the Hitachi switcher by pressing the StandBy/On button on the top right side.

Use the DVD/VHS Player

  • Turn on the Hitachi switcher by pressing the StandBy/On button on the top right side of the switcher.
  • Turn on the Projector by pressing Projector on the Hitachi switcher.
  • Press Video on the switcher.
  • Turn on the Sony DVD/VHS player.  Power button is on the front lower left corner or use the remote.
  • On the front of the DVD/VHS player, select VHS or DVD by pressing the appropriate button next to the Power button.
  • Insert VHS tape or DVD disc.  Use the Sony remote to control the viewing (Play, FF, Rewind).
  • Volume is controlled via the Spkr Up/Down buttons on the switcher.
  • When you are done:
    • Eject your VHS tape or DVD from the player and turn it off.
    • Turn off Projector using the Projector button on the Hitachi switcher.  When the shut down prompt appears on the screen, press Projector once more.
    • Turn off the Hitachi switcher by pressing the StandBy/On button on the top right side.

Use the Apple TV

Before connecting to an Apple TV, make sure the iPad or MacBook Air is connected to the GreenDoor wireless network.

  • Turn on the Hitachi switcher by pressing the StandBy/On button on the top right side of the switcher.
  • Turn on the Projector by pressing Projector on the Hitachi switcher.
  • Press HDMI 2 on the switcher.
  • For iPad Users:
    • Slide finger up from bottom of screen
    • Select the AirPlay icon (looks like a rectangle with a solid black triangle sticking into the bottom)
    • Select AV2 from the list of available Apple TV’s and turn Mirroring On
    • The iPad image should now be projected.
    • Volume is controlled via the Spkr Up/Down buttons on the switcher as well as through the iPad and the application playing the audio.
    • When done be sure to disconnect the iPad from the Apple TV.
      • Go back to AirPlay on the iPad
      • Select iPad to disconnect from the Apple TV
  • For MacBook Air Users:
    • Click on the AirPlay icon in the top menu bar (looks like a rectangle with a solid black triangle sticking into the bottom)
    • Select AV2 from the list of available Apple TV’s
    • The MacBook Air image should now be projected
    • Volume is controlled via the Spkr Up/Down buttons on the switcher as well as the application playing the audio.
    • When done be sure to disconnect from the MacBook Air from the Apple TV
      • Click on the AirPlay icon and select Disconnect AirPlay Display
  • Turn off Projector using the Projector button on the Hitachi switcher.  When the shut down prompt appears on the screen, press Projector once more.
  • Turn off the Hitachi switcher by pressing the StandBy/On button on the top right side.
