Sounds of Deerfield

Mr. Boyden at Rally 1960s

In 1964-1965, Bruce Zuckerman ’65 and Tony Aeck ’65 decided to make an audio time capsule of daily life at Deerfield Academy. They called it Sounds of Deerfield. The Archives houses the final vinyl product, but Bruce and his brother Ken ’63 unearthed the original source material of over 100 ¼” audiotape masters and donated them to the Academy. There is plenty that did not make it on to the final version, including a Choate Rally speech by Mr. Boyden. Thank you to Bruce, Tony, and Ken. Special thanks to Ed Flickinger ’65 for the enormous job of transferring the analog tapes to digital files, making it possible for many to enjoy these audio treasures.
