DA @ ALA ~ Day One

Janet Eckert – June 28, 2013

DAY ONE ~ Friday, June 28 ~¬†Today, the American Library Association (ALA) opened the annual conference with an entertaining presentation by Steven Levitt, author of “Freakonomics” followed by the grand opening of the Exhibits. ¬†There were more exhibits than I could manage to see in the 2 hour time period and I hope to return before the end of the conference to see all of the vendor displays. Most notable tonight were as follows:

  • Thrift Books sell library discards for libraries (I have this vendor’s information)
  • LibGuides has completely revamped its product – libraries will have the option of opting in when they are comfortable with this revision
  • World Book Academic is also revamping its databases
