Three Forum members competed at the International Independent Schools Public Speaking Competition held in Calgary last week, participating in parliamentary debating, impromptu speaking, interpretive reading, after dinner speaking, and persuasive speaking. The team’s performance upheld Deerfield’s reputation for excellence at international competitions with one member qualifying for the finals in Parliamentary Debating (out of 64 entrants) and in Impromptu Speaking, placing 1st out of 72 competitors in the event and qualifying for a spot on the US Team to the 2013 World Individual Debating and Public Speaking Championships to be held in Durban, South Africa this spring.
