Annually tremendous resources are being directed toward treating and finding a cure for cancer. However, another strategy to address this deadly disease is to study the causes and develop tactics that lead to prevention. This is the primary objective of the Cancer Prevention Institute of California (CPIC).
Deerfield Academy is currently in conversations with CPIC to allow a student to travel to their site during the summer of 2013 and learn about this exciting area of cancer research. Currently this opportunity is in the planning stages and could have a duration of anywhere between 1 and 10 weeks. Additionally, it can be structured so that the student is mainly an observer or so that the student is incorporated into a team that is actually collecting and analyzing data.
