Two of my three sons are at Deerfield. Robert ’13 runs Varsity Cross Country, and Michael ’15 is a full time actor (yes, you don’t have to do a sport at DA anymore). Robert’s success at the sport has goaded me back into running. If you see an old, balding, mildly overweight man breathing like he just arrived on Mars on the bridle path in Central Park with a Deerfield Cross Country t-shirt and a Yorkie trailing behind, do not yell out, “Pick it up Deerfield, last mile, on your toes!”
