I believe that honor pledge is unnecessary. Students at Deerfield are smart enough to know what is and isn’t cheating, and their knowledgeable enough to know to ask for clarity when needed. I don’t understand the point of signing your name to prove that it’s your work; either way people will still cheat and get DCed. I think that Deerfield bases itself on community, and community is based off of trust. This will break the trust between teachers and students.
