Reporting to the Carpentry Supervisor, an Academy Carpenter must have a good understanding of the carpentry trade, all aspects of construction, and coordination and team work.
Typical duties and responsibilities include: perform general maintenance repairs of all Academy buildings and assist with new construction; respond to and complete work orders in a timely and efficient manner; attend all required safety program training and utilize required Personal Protective Equipment; comply with all Deerfield Academy safety program policies and procedures while performing job duties, both on and off Academy property. Carpenters may be required to work overtime from time to time or be on call to respond to Academy emergencies.
The successful candidate must have a High School diploma, a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the carpentry trade and in all aspects of construction, hold a valid MA Driver’s License, preferably possess a MA Construction Supervisor’s License, possess a good knowledge of the MA building Code, be able to communicate and work well individually and as part of team, possess a high level of safety consciousness, and have good attention to detail.
