Reporting to the Director of Information Technology Services, the Associate Director provides leadership within the IT department, supervising a team of seven technical professionals, and is responsible for all aspects of short and long term budgeting, staffing, purchasing, systems evaluation, and capital project management for the Academy’s administrative technology and network/systems services groups. Collaborating with the Director of ITS in the development of strategic and innovative goals, the Associate Director will help assure effective, reliable, and responsive technology services to the Academy.
The primary duties include overseeing a team of technical professionals including hiring, setting priorities, performance measurement, and mentoring; working closely with administrative groups within the Academy to develop software and hardware solutions; managing the budgets for administrative computing, network and systems; maintaining relationships with major vendors, including contract negotiations, monitoring contracts and agreements; developing, defining, and managing IT projects; providing leadership within the department, and assuming responsibility for management of the department in the absence of the Director of ITS.
The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of five years of experience in IT management and demonstrated leadership skills, preferably in an educational institution; strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate vision, goals, and responsibilities and to build consensus; excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with demonstrated success in the planning and implementation of projects; strong budgeting skills with the ability to plan strategically and cost effectively and to prioritize resources; demonstrated ability to mentor, manage and lead a diverse staff; extensive knowledge of enterprise applications; functional experience with SungardHE Banner system desirable.
