HEADlines: Giving Thanks

As the beginning of school recedes into memory, and the pace of life quickens, we would do well to remember Wahi Diome’s benediction at Convocation. One of the values she has learned from her Iroquois culture is the importance of “dedicating a moment of every day to give thanks for what we have.” In her brief address, Wahi did not give thanks for things but rather for “the people,” “the waters” and the “trees and bushes,” for what we tend to overlook in our lives. As we know, Mr. Boyden used to exhort his students to “look to the hills,” as if to remind us to appreciate what is beautiful and worthy around us. Have you looked to the hills today?

The sunshine today certainly helps the view. :-) Dr. Curtis… do you think the students know that they can add comments here? They just need to login!
