Good news! The memoir and the movie, each titled Death Be Not Proud, are available for loan from the Boyden Library Collection.

Guess what, I was an extra in the movie Death be not Proud. I was supposed to have a small speaking part but it was so small you have to play the movie in slow motion to hear it. It was a great time at Deerfield during the filming. The campus came to a stop for 2 weeks and we regressed into the 40′s. All us long hairs had to get it chopped off and movie stars were running all over the place. There is one particular moving portion where the Evening Song is sung. If you ever get a chance to see it look for me. My mother made me wear a hideous plaid jacket so she could pick me out.
