Appearance: yellow powder
Melting point: 183 °C

Curcumin, is the bright yellow pigment in turmeric which is a member of the ginger family. Curcumin is known to protect the stomach from tainted foods and inhibits the growth of Helicobacter pylori, which has been implicated in gastric and colon cancers. Curcumin is widely used as a food coloring and food additative (natural yellow 3).
