McInerny’s Eurydice Opens July 8 in the Black Box

Old Deerfield Productions presents Eurydice by Sarah Ruhl, directed and produced by Linda McInerney. The play will run July 8-11 and July 15-18 (8pm Thursday-Saturday and Sundays at 2pm) in the Reid Black Box Theatre at Deerfield Academy. Tickets are available at academyofmusictheatre.com or by calling (413) 584-9032. This soulful retelling of the Orpheus and Eurydice myth is filled with love and lightness. Paula M. Kimper created original music and the show features local performers: Kerry Kazokas, Richard James, Bill Stewart, Beth Wojtusik, Moe McElligott, Sarah Wilson, and Mike Haley. The New York Times said of the play, “Like all fine poems, songs, and paintings, it’s a love letter to the world … a magical play … among the most moving moments I can remember seeing on a stage … you may find yourself taken to heights of emotion that theater too rarely achieves …” Ms. Ruhl, a Pulitzer Prize finalist, is a 2010 Tony nominee.
